Foreign Private Investors Loading Up on US Securities
The Treasury Department reported today that net foreign purchases of long-term securities were $69.6 billion. Foreign official institutions, such as central banks, sold a net $1.4 billion, while private foreign investors purchased a net $90.2 billion for total net foreign purchases of $88.8 billion in US long-term domestic securities. U.S. residents purchased a net $19.2 billion in foreign securities.
