Financial Roadmap for April 9 to 13, 2007

This week will be off to a very slow start with no major indicators scheduled for release until Wednesday and will be a fairly slow week generally. The only news from the housing sector will be the standard weekly fare on mortgage application numbers from the Mortgage Bankers Association.

There will be a fair amount of international economic news this week with leading indexes for Korea, the UK and France due out from the Conference Board, the Import/Export Price Indexes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics [BLS] and US International Trade from the Commerce Department.

The Federal Open Market Committee [FOMC] minutes from March also come out Wednesday, but given various other statements by Fed officials, nothing earth shattering is expected ‫ of course, things that are expected aren't surprises and generally don't move markets much. On the inflation front, in addition to Import/Export Prices, the BLS will also issue the Producer Price Index, the top measure of wholesale price inflation and that combination may tell us more about the future of Fed policy than the FOMC minutes.
