Financial Roadmap May 7 to May 11, 2007
Though there will be a wealth of financial information coming out this week, the markets will be focused on one thing ‫ Wednesday's interest rate and monetary policy announcement from the Federal Reserve. The week will get off to a slow start with only the Fed's Consumer Credit release and the Wholesale Trade report from the Commerce Department coming in ahead of the Wednesday Fed announcement (as far as major monthly US indicators).
The last two days of the week things will pick up with Import Export Price Indexes, US international trade, the April US federal budget, Producer Price Index, retail sales, RBC CASH Index and business inventories. The federal budget numbers could be a big market mover if the continued string of record breaking federal revenues bring the budget deficit down more than expected...or things could get really nasty if federal revenues don't continue to increase at a record pace and the budget deficit swells. An hour ahead of that number, the Treasury will hold a 30-year bond auction which could also be a big market mover if demand for the bonds is heavier or lighter than expected.
An interesting, even historic, earnings report comes out this week as Toyota releases first quarter earnings - the first quarterly earnings report where the company held the distinction of «Number One» automaker in the world.
