Financial Roadmap July 9 to 13, 2007
Investors interested in a low risk inflation hedge may want to look at the rates on the US Treasuries TIPS (Treasury Inflation Protected Securities) after Thursday's auction.
Monday the Fed will release information on an early indicator of inflation - consumer credit. Look for any increase over about $5.5 billion to stoke inflation fears with all the usual effects on markets. Followed Tuesday by a Bank of Canada interest rate announcement, there's potential for movement in Forex markets, especially US versus Canadian dollar.
There will be plenty of international news this week with US international trade, the previously mentioned Bank of Canada announcement and leading indexes for France, Japan and Korea.
There will also be plenty of general business barometer type indicators from wholesale trade to retail sales and business inventories. A particularly interesting piece to look at will be the Conference Board's survey of CEO Confidence. If I wanted to know what the «insiders» really think, this is one of the first things I'd look at along with the State Street Index.
