What's Your Trading Strategy?
In an upcoming series of articles I'm going to be testing and reviewing a variety of investment types, trading platforms, broker/dealers and trading strategies. My question to readers: What trading strategy do you use?
I'll be looking at strategies from day trading to long term value investing. I'll be looking at investment vehicles from Forex to commodities to stocks to options.
I'll be doing some paper trading with brokers and dealers that provide practice accounts. When I go live, I'll be starting with a small deposit and will likely be looking at Forex or commodities trading with one of the several dealers that offer an account opening bonus, as well as some more conservative stock plays with my existing self-directed Roth IRA.
Here's what I'd like to know from readers. What strategy have you used successfully? Specifically, can you recommend a book, a newsletter, a piece of software, a research service, etc.? Know a financial blogger whose recommendations are blowing away the market averages? Give me the lowdown.
Do you publish a newsletter or have you written a book that you'd be willing to let me review?
Send me a copy!
Again, especially with currency and the riskier derivatives, I'm keeping my risk low and possibly even sticking to paper trading until I've tested the strategy, so I'll also be looking for cost effective strategies. If the strategy costs 50% of my starting investment, it cuts my profit in half out of the box, no matter how well it performs later. Cost effectiveness for the small trader will definitely be one of the big factors in this review series. So...Know of a book that's under $15 on Amazon - great! Know of a neural net program that costs $10,000 - maybe in a few years I'll get to that one if the others work out.
